On April 3, the State Council Information Office published a white paper entitled "China's Policies and Practices to Guarantee Freedom of Religious Belief." The white paper uses a series of facts to show that China, as always, respects and guarantees citizens' freedom of religious belief. China's freedom of religious belief has four characteristics: profound, sincere, consistent and firm.
Profound: The Communist Party of China has thought deeply about religious issues, and believes that respect for freedom of religious belief does not conflict with dialectical materialism. The dialectical materialism advocated by the Chinese Communist Party believes that material is the first, in this sense, it is different from religious idealism; but "the first of material" includes the recognition of the existence, development and change of objective things. In terms of its internal laws, it is believed that any external intervention that violates the internal laws of objective existence and objective processes and any simple treatment of complex problems is harmful. Religion has a long history as a social phenomenon, and it will also exist for a long time in socialist society, with its own objective laws of development. Respect for freedom of religious belief is based on respect for objective existence, objective processes, and objective laws.
Sincerity: The Communist Party of China serves the people wholeheartedly. All efforts are made to realize and safeguard the basic rights of the masses. These rights are reflected in many aspects, including the right of the people to choose their own religious beliefs. China mainly has religions such as Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism, and Christianity. There are nearly 200 million religious citizens and more than 380,000 religious staff. Of course, they are all basic forces that play an active role in promoting social harmony. The Communist Party of China adheres to the principle of "political solidarity and cooperation and mutual respect in beliefs" in handling relations with the religious world, and the patriotic united front with the religious world is constantly consolidated.
Consistently: China's respect for freedom of religious belief is based on a profound historical and cultural tradition. Chinese culture advocates peace as the most important thing, seeking common ground while shelving differences, being compatible, and an inclusive attitude towards religion. During the development of Chinese religions, they have always merged with China's outstanding traditional culture and adapted to the actual needs of social development. Today, the Chinese religious community adheres to the direction of the sinicization of religion, practises the core values of socialism, carries forward the fine traditions of the Chinese nation, actively explores religious thoughts in line with China's national conditions, and strives to make interpretations of religious teachings and doctrines that meet national conditions and the requirements of the times. "For the purpose of courtesy, harmony is the most precious thing. Every religion in China recognizes this principle, obeys it, and keeps it. Belief in religion and non-religion, each beauty is beautiful, the beauty of beauty, live in harmony, beauty and beauty.
Firm: China's respect for freedom of religious belief is guaranteed by the Constitution and laws. The Constitution clearly states: "Citizens of the People's Republic of China have freedom of religious belief." Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core, comprehensively promote the rule of law, integrate religious work into the national governance system, and use laws to regulate various social relations involving religion. The socialist legal system with Chinese characteristics has continued perfect. The "Religious Affairs Regulations" revised and promulgated in 2017 strengthened the protection of citizens' freedom of religious belief and the legitimate rights and interests of religious circles, regulated the government's behavior in the management of religious affairs in accordance with the law, and added content to maintain national security and social harmony. The level of rule of law in the protection of freedom of religious belief has continued to improve, the government's management of religious affairs has become more standardized, and the protection of the legitimate rights and interests of religious believers has become more comprehensive and effective. The state takes measures to curb the spread and spread of religious extremism, and at the same time pays special attention to preventing violent terrorist activities and religious extremism from being associated with specific ethnic groups or specific religions.
The highest point lies in reason, and Tao has no time but now. China respects the profound, sincere, consistent, and firm characteristics of freedom of religious belief. It has both realistic and historical reasons. It is both a rational choice and legal guarantee. This is an atheist party, a government that implements the principle of separation of church and state, and has made special contributions to the world in safeguarding human rights in religion.
