Reference News Network reported on December 31. Japanese media said that Japanese communication operator Katie Love (KDDI) will participate in the common payment mechanism for mobile payment QR codes of IT companies in China, Japan and South Korea. The mechanism has been attended by 7 companies including Japanese telecommunications operator NTT docomo, and 4 of them have implemented two-dimensional code commonization at the counter. No matter what kind of mobile payment service consumers use, they only need to read a QR code to settle, which improves convenience.
According to a report by the Nihon Keizai Shimbun on December 27, KDDI will participate in the "Cloud Pay" mechanism developed by Digital Garage, a company engaged in system development. Cloud payment is a system where consumers can read a QR code displayed by the store with their mobile phone, and can automatically identify the settlement operator and complete the payment. The store does not need to sign a contract with each settlement operator and set up a dedicated settlement terminal to support mobile payment.
It is reported that now Dukomo ’s “d payment”, China Ant Financial ’s “Alipay” and “AlipayHK”, and Kakao ’s “Kakao Pay” in South Korea have supported this mechanism. Starting in the spring of 2020, LINE ’s “LINE Pay”, Mercari ’s “Merpay” and China ’s Tencent ’s “WeChat Pay” will also be supported, and then KDDI ’s “au Pay” will also be available.
The report pointed out that for consumers, if the introduction of this mechanism of shops and support services expands, there will be less confusion about "which shop can use which kind of settlement", and it may be easier to use mobile payment.
